Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an indispensable tool in Cummings’ construction methodology. We integrate 3D, 4D, and 5D processes into our preconstruction and construction phase services; the technology is used by all members of the project team from estimators to field staff to realize substantial value that goes beyond simple clash detection.
Cummings has utilized BIM on most projects, both providing modeling services and starting with design models provided by the architect. We utilize design models during pre-construction for estimate quantity takeoffs, require subcontractor BIM-coordination, and link the construction schedule to the model to ensure accurate sequencing, discover creative uses of float, eliminate areas of inactivity within the project, and more.
The linked model/schedule is updated as the project progresses for change coordination and can be furnished to the project owner upon completion as an accurate as-built or integrated into Facilities Management (FM) software.
