Owner: Miami-Dade County Public Schools
Architect: Spillis Candela & Partners
Project Scope:
This 160,721 square foot new multi-story / multi-building prototype middle school was constructed on 10 acres in Hialeah Gardens, Florida. The new prototype middle school is designed to house 1,600 student stations for grades 6-8, which includes general classrooms, administration spaces, media center, vocational classrooms, cafeteria and physical educational facilities.
Construction included extensive on-site and off-site improvements, including but not limited to, new staff, visitor and student parking areas, bus and parent drop off zones, playfields, hard courts, right-of-way improvements, traffic control devices and signalization as well as all required storm, water and sewer utilities.
"It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of James A. Cummings, Inc. As Principal of Hialeah Gardens Middle School, I can express nothing but my deepest gratitude for the assistance (they) provided us from the beginning and throughout the year. There were numerous construction issues that came up as with any new facility under construction. However, because of (Cummings) diligence and professionalism, everything was handled and resolved in a timely fashion."
